21st November - Tough
Night at the wheel and rain disruption
Unfortunately
waether struck Western Springs Speedway on the Saturday and meant that we were running meeting 2 of the season on Sunday Night
which is always a different feeling. The track was much different to the first night with a lot of bumps coming into it but
that came with its own challenges. Another big field of 28 TQ's we on hand for some exciting and intense racing.
In heat 1 we started off grid 12 and knew a good
result could set us up for a good night. On a wet track this was sadly not to be see as moving up to around 8th or 9th early
was a great start but a slight bump had us heading for the wall and busted the front end so it was a DNF. Heat 2 we started
off grid 4 and need to stay around that place to get enough points to even make the feature, We started well but I quickly
realised the car wasn't quite it's normal perfect with the repairs done. However we pushed through and kept enough pace in
the car to get us across the line in 6th place, that was a real chalenge but we think it was enough.
Feature Race we started out of grid 22 which was
pretty much the back of the field and not where we wanted to be, the team set a goal of top 15 as by this stage the track
was very rough and we really didnt need another DNF. A couple of small changes were made to the car and it was a lot better
to drive and still had some real pace in it. We battled through as much as we could and bought the 7A CSR Fabrications TQ
home in 13th place, and were trying to pass for 12th as the race finished, a tough night I know for the whole team but definitely
a better result and what we targeted going into the feature.
A massive thanks needs to go to my great crew
that helped get the car back on its wheels and repaired for the rest of the night, Jason Brown, Amy Pickerill and Brad Street
all dug in and did a great job of repairing the car and making it look great again. A real credit to the team!! Check out
the MSB Motorsport Video tab of the website to see our NEW feature of video highlights from the night's racing thanks to Pickerill
Motorsport and Cass on the camera work!!
Lastly a huge thank you has to go out to the loyal
sponsors and supporters we have, they are all fantastic and racing this season couldn't be done without them. Thanks to CSR
Fabrications, Pickerill Auto Electrical, Signright, Castrol NZ, MR Motorcycles, Lane Engineering and lastly to our new sponsor
Image Group (Jeremy) thanks very much for coming on board.
Keep an eye on the website and facebook page with
all the updates and progress of how we are going. Next Meeting is this Saturday 24th November at Western Springs. International
Sprintcars are on the program with at least 4 International Drivers!!
Take
care until next time
